@verretor @lukedashjr @alanturing @JTR21 I'm not sure you really want 0% censorship. If someone were to start promoting shitcoin scams on bitcoinhackers.org, posting every minute of the day, would you not moderate that?
There are plenty of instances that don't censor much, and with Mastodon you can also migrate your account between instances without losing your social graph, in case you're unhappy on the one you chose first.
Here's a list of some popular instances: https://joinmastodon.org/communities
Besides, their rules indicate they do in fact censor reasonable things too. ("homophobic speech will not be tolerated" plus a vague condemnation of "hate speech")
@lukedashjr @alanturing @verretor I think that's the wrong question. The question is what your community finds reasonable in regards to you encroaching on others' freedoms, like their right to choose sexual partners. If you are not tolerant of their sexuality, then why should they be tolerant of your opinion on it?
@sebx2a @lukedashjr @raucao @alanturing @verretor That's what the left wing Big Tech censorship brigade morons don't get. Setting the precedent for what is acceptable for whenever a right wing, extreme right wing leader gets into power again. This strategy only works if you establish a one party state (which it seems they are trying to do)
Good thing he didn't win. Trump won by a landslide until the day after. Why do you think they are panicking and trying for the 25th/impeachment when he supposedly has just days left? The left hasn't accomplished anything and sudden;y they move this quickly?
Also, why didn't they count the mail in ballots first? Total incompetence? Or did they need to know how many they needed to turn in? Also, how many counties reported over 100% voter turn out? How many had over 200%? They won't get away with this.
@Zachary_BTC @pete @verretor @eatoutfrom5lbs @sebx2a @lukedashjr @raucao @alanturing I won't be shocked. But seems to me only thing that can stop a Biden inauguration now is military intervention. And regardless of whose side you are on (I lean towards Trump), military interventions in elections seems to me like a failed state. I'm just staggered Supreme Court refused to look at it. It is a failure of democracy and a failure of the legal system.
Also printed ballots. Also released a virus that prompted insecure vote by mail that was the major source of fraud. Yea, the voting machines were rigged but it was such a landslide they needed the mail in ballots that took weeks to count because apparently everyone mailed them in late? BS, they should have been counted first. Also, people were coordinating this across the battle ground states.
@Zachary_BTC @pete @verretor @eatoutfrom5lbs @sebx2a @lukedashjr @raucao @alanturing Anything that required humans on the ground in the US (e.g. movement of paper ballots) should be resolved in the courts first before getting the military involved. Only airspace attacks or cyberattacks on election go straight to the military. No one brought a case to the Supreme Court alleging anything other than states not following constitutional guidelines.
What if china has bought most of the congress/governors/etc? What if their strategy isn't a physical fight but an infiltration? There's a book called Stealth War by Robert Spalding that describes their strategy.
At some point enough will be enough and I think we just went there.
Well, china has everything to lose if Trump is re-elected. He's foiling the controlled decline of America and rise of China. We know they have bought our politicians and control hollywood and our media. We know they printed some if not all of the fake ballots. They have the most to gain from a Biden presidency.
@pete @verretor @eatoutfrom5lbs @michaelfolkson @sebx2a @lukedashjr @raucao @alanturing yes but youre right @pete in your previous toot, they will use it as a tool to get re-elected, but they know they are not going to confiscate much (if anything). In any case they can slowly start tightening guns an ammo controls, like @verretor implied with canada example. In Venezuela was a lot simpler... the gov just called for everyone to surrender their guns amd people did it.
It's funny how people disobey reasonable mask mandates, but obey unreasonable concealed-carry licensing requirements...
Hopefully any attempt to force registration will get a backlash of CCW disobedience.
@PunaneMarker @lukedashjr @raucao @alanturing @verretor It might not always be unstable if the cost of suppression rises significantly, e.g. because defensive weapons hugely outperform offensive ones in cost/effectiveness.
I'm dreaming of a future where even small communities have the means to resist larger powers because it's too costly to breach their perimeters. I think this option alone will make people realize it's better to cooperate than dominating each other.
@sebx2a @PunaneMarker @lukedashjr @raucao @alanturing @verretor I think we are already here, the defensive tech just isn’t widely spread yet. Why invade a country or city state or even home if you can’t easily steal my stored wealth. Sure you can harass and threaten and even kill me, but if I can deny you my wealth because of my superior defense the rules of the game have changed...
