I'm a very marginal bitcoiner, but I'm subject to a ridiculous barrage of (thankfully only virtual so far) attacks. I can't imagine what it's like for high profile bitcoiners.

More motivation to soldier on.

I fully expect to be physically attacked at some point, either due to a rabid nocoiner (the wealth transfer will be very uncomfortable... for them) or just a low tier criminal.

that's why I work out, run, and am actively looking into personal protection.

@nic Which kind of attacks ? Harrasment on social network ?

@Sosthene I get routinely harassed on twitter, mostly by nocoiners. it can get really nasty actually. really awful stuff but twitter doesnt do anything about it.

I have also been publicly humiliated/berated for being a bitcoiner on many occasions. oh well!

@nic maybe it is time to take a break with Twitter and social networks in general ?
Was it all virtual or did the public humiliation happen in meatspace ?

@nic learning some kind of martial art to know how to defend yourself seems like a good solution + having smart opsec if you're going to be public. Jameson lopp talked extensively about his new setup since he was SWATed in a podcast

@nic like how he his now hidden (him, his asset, activities, etc.) behind shell companies / lawyers, if i'm not mystaken

@nic I am working on a Jamie Dimon face mask, should be safe with that on.

@nic rabid nocoiners and low-tier criminals are not the most dangerous threat bitcoiners will face in the future, I'm afraid.
I fear more either direct intervention from the State, or at least organized attempts at systematic expropriation

@nic u might find some useful ideas in my work with focuses in this, esp. how to safely hodl your private keys...

@nic
Rock, paper scissors. Glock.

Get a lot of good training. Practice. Get comfortable with it.

@alexthorn @nic
I try not to leave NH. I'll be working on my btc/lightning posters from here...safe in my forest, complete with our own black bear family....
Can you imagine pulling up to someone's property, intent on robbing them, and being greeted by two really large black bears? haha....
You'll end up going to McDonalds instead, and rethinking your life choices....

@mydogisahusky @nic this is phenomenal. I've spent a lot of time in New Hampshire, and I believe you've captured its essence with this toot.

@nic
running is highly underrated, and will go a LONG WAY when filling out a police report involving a shooting. If you can demonstrate that you did everything in your power to evade the attack, and that you were indeed attacked- in fear of your life, a shooting goes down much better with them.

@nic
You will also want to buy "shooting a bad guy in self defense insurance".

@AnonByNature @nic
We have full blown "stand your ground", castle doctrine in my state, but you want to try and avoid shooting unless it's absolutely necessary. Your life will change as the result of a shooting - so obviously it is a last resort kind of thing.

@mydogisahusky this is the kind of post that deserves a follow

@mydogisahusky @AnonByNature I live in massachusets so I'm basically screwed from that perspective

@mydogisahusky @AnonByNature why did I leave the blessed south of the USA 😭😭😭

@nic @AnonByNature
If you can handle the commute - NH fixes everything. :)

@nic
Learn how not to be a target.
Be non predictable.

@nic Same except that for me they were physical not virtual. I was followed multiple times already
