Domain name seizure is the next attack vector

I haven’t seen a good solution. I’m thinking something “simple”: lookup pubkey in DHT which resolves to an ip. This ip resolves to server that is a simple key/value store. Signed updates.

Can use this to pull structured data like DNS records for a public key. Noise protocol for secure connection. Local dns resolver that talks this protocol. Need to get pubkeys out of band somehow.

Hopefully this isn’t needed anytime soon but who knows these days.

@jb55 "Namecoin" was one of the few altcoins that I thought had a legit purpose, it was meant to be a decentralized DNS of sorts. Perhaps look at their project code?

@TallTim I am aware of namecoin but I'm skeptical of using blockchains for everything. blockchains are onerous to run and maintain.

@jb55 @TallTim zeronet?

Domain name seizure is the next attack vectorzero

@tracyspacy @TallTim I like zeronet but it's a bit walled off from everything

@jb55 Certainly is your right to do so. Not sure how I'd attack the problem myself. Haven't done any hardcore coding for a while...
