Hey everyone. Really nice to not be using Twitter anymore. It felt horrible contributing in any way to that platform.
It was the last* big data platform I allowed into my life in any way, and I'm glad that it's gone.
*Sadly, I have a youtube channel. Due to some videos I have made decrying the #lockdowns, that may be removed anyway. In the mean time, it serves to save me time when clients pester me asking about shitcoins.
ugh english fail.
But as a user, simply refusing to run protocol changes you disagree with, and ensuring the one you do agree with happens (in this case, it was published by @bitcoinmechanic and @shinobimonkey even prior to Core's abuse).
I guess we should make more of an effort here. It's kind of a stop gap though because @nvk is still hosting us. I'd like to get us all self hosting, but doing that the easy way with an Embassy means not being able to federate with this instance cos it can't with TOR only instances.
What to do, what to do.
@nvk are you up for upgrading the instance to work with TOR? is it just the expense that's stopping you?
#GMail is harmful to e-mail ecosystem; its antispam blocking policy matches too many valid messages as spam.
It blocked LastPass email leak warning email, because it contained "a link" to a leaked site.
It blocked an e-mail from goverment agency addressed directly to me.
It discriminates all non-gmail servers, and it's pretty much impossible to own a private SMTP server these days, because GMail will classify everything as spam.
It's not how e-mail should work.
Consider dropping GMail.
The reaction to the BIP8 client released yesterday makes me far more concerned than I was previously.
People are largely larping about decentralisation, anonymity etc. If the release doesn't come from a group of devs they trust then it's perceived as an attack despite in this case being either just slightly/minimally helpful (if ST succeeds) or downright necessary (if ST fails).
Most haven't even read the params and wrongly assume incompatibility, or are moaning about the name or my identity.
FATF is the boss-level enemy.
Who are they and why are they Bitcoin's biggest enemy?
@lukedashjr are we just MASFing again then? how does BIP8 differ from BIP9 wrt what was discussed yesterday?
I help people buy their first coins and get them stored safely.
I freak out about the complete disregard for our freedoms people have.
I spend much more time than I'd like explaining why shitcoins are shit.
