I dunno, just some musings about why everything sucks, I guess:
@Crabel I'm not a fan of taleb the tweeter. In the past when i would check out his tweets, occasionally I'd find something interesting or funny, but most of the time i had no interest or no idea what he was talking about. I'm a fan of his books, tho.
I think ppl in the spotlight get addicted to the attention and don't know when to fuck off, nnt suffers from that as much as anyone else.
I really love this article by @allenf :
so you don't want to read a 99-minute, highly technical satire, but you are intrigued that I called @nntaleb a bullshitting charlatan wrt, among other things, #bitcoin, a year ago.
whatever to do?
fear not, for I have isolated the bitcoiny juice of said satire:
@TheCryptoconomy reading me but sounding cooler and with funny accents:
normie bait! woop woop 😜
Bitcoiners are often insulted because "they're not working"
But many just work smartly & refuse the modern dictatorship to work for work's sake
They're using the rest of their time in a way that Classics would call "σχολή" in Greek & "Otium" in Latin
They were all noble activities like learning philosophy & sciences, physical activities, discussions & disputations
We can stretch the point further:
Socials could be the modern version of the agora. Where they discussed publicly important matters
thoughts on what fiat does to the capital stock, and how this loops back around and makes money even worse.
kind of like infusing @parkeralewis' Enders Game with some Wendell Berry and populist rancor.
(very long, I warn you - but in the same methodical vein as Wittgenstein's Money, for those that read that one back in the day)
maybe a squirrel. maybe not.
